Music and Musician Resources

Below are compiled resources for hot music topics asked about by parents, students, educators and performers alike.

Practice Resources

If you are a student struggling to practice, a parent struggling to find ways to support your child in practicing, or an educator wanting some ideas and resources for tried and true practice systems I’ve created and tested over the years look no further!

  • This quick guide and checklist for parents is based off of this blog post I wrote earlier last year sharing some suggestions and tools that could be utilized by parents to help remain involved and supportive of their child’s practice, even if they themselves are not musical.

If you are a current student/parent of a current student looking for our practice log system file, please refer to the above.

  • This next practice log is a cumulation of many different systems I’ve tried over the last year and is the current system I use with most of my students. On the back of each undated monthly “practice snapshot” page, there is also a place for weekly lesson notes and practice checklists to be written. This log combines long-term habit tracking, with weekly task/goal setting but on a monthly scale, allowing for a more zoomed out approach. An upcoming blog post will be going more into depth about why this system will be what I utilize for the rest of 2026, if not beyond.
  • This practice log is going to be featured in an upcoming blog post regarding building a SIMPLE practice routine for very young students and/or complete beginners. It contains 2 weeks worth of tally boxes, with a weekly tally for each week running from sunday-saturday, and does NOT include a space for notes and/or practice checklists. Therefore making it ideal for students and parents simply looking to track and reward building a habit, without working on setting specific goals
  • This practice log is another planned to be featured in an upcoming blog post regarding building a SIMPLE practice routine for very young students and/or complete beginners. Utilizing the same basic template as the previous practice log, there is 1 weeks worth of tally boxes, with a weekly tally for each week running from sunday-saturday. However there is a 12-point checklist to give the student simple practice tasks to complete throughout the week.
    • Please Note: If the checklist is being used to give major practice tasks, it is not recommended to use all 12. The idea behind giving so many practice tasks is so that these goals and tasks can be spread throughout the week, and not have every single task practiced every single day.
